On this page, I'll show you how you can use all the stamps that you download from this site within SnagIt 8 -- there's a similar tutorial available for SnagIt 9 users.

All stamps you download from this site are ZIP files that you need to unarchive -- when you unarchive the ZIP file to a folder, you'll find several PNG files, and a EULA file -- your use of these PNGs is subject to the info in the EULA. And yes, the PNGs are the stamps for SnagIt!

Follow these steps to install these PNGs as stamps in SnagIt 8:

  1. Go to your Windows Start menu and choose All Programs | SnagIt 8 | SnagIt 8, as shown in Figure 1 below to launch SnagIt (ignore this step if SnagIt is already open).

  2. This open the SnagIt 8 interface that you can see in Figure 2. Click the SnagIt Editor option (highlighted in red) on the top left of the interface.

Tip: You can also open SnagIt 8 Editor from the SnagIt group in Windows Start Menu (see Figure 1 above).

  3. This brings up the SnagIt Editor that you can see in Figure 3.

SnagIt Editor opens with a small white background when opened this way -- if you want you can open another image as I did for this tutorial (I used the Graph backdrop image).

  4. Now choose the Stamp button from the Paint Tools section in the panel on the left, as shown in Figure 4. You'll notice that as soon as I select the Stamps tool, the Properties shown under the Paint Tools area changes (compare Figure 3 to Figure 4).

  5. Click the Organize Stamps button. If you are adding stamps for the first time, this brings up the Custom Stamps Folder dialog box as shown in Figure 5 -- here you can choose a folder to save all your custom stamps.

Choose the default folder provided -- or set the folder location and click OK.

Note: The Custom Stamps Folder will prompt only the first time you click the Organize Stamps option -- it won't appear any other time thereafter when you click the Organize Stamps button -- you'll get straight to the Organize Stamps window that I discuss next..

  6. This opens the Organize Stamps window (see Figure 6) -- here you can install your new PNGs that you downloaded from this site as stamps. Now click the Add Category button (highlighted in red in Figure 6)

  7. This brings up the Add New Category dialog box as shown in Figure 7.

Here enter a descriptive name for this new category -- and then, click OK to get back to Organize Stamps window.

  8. You can now see that your new category has been created and added to the Categories list on the left (see Figure 8). Now click the Add Stamp button (highlighted in red).

  9. This opens the Choose Stamps To Add window as shown in Figure 9 -- navigate to the folder were you have unzipped the downloaded PNGs.

Select the first PNG, and click Open.

  10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 to add more PNGs as stamps -- Figure 10 shows how all the new PNGs stamps have been added as SnagIt stamps within the Organize Stamps window.

Click the Close button to get back to SnagIt Editor interface.

  11. With your Stamp tool still selected, click Category drop down menu to choose the new stamps category you added -- and then select the Stamp area as shown in Figure 11 -- this shows you all stamps within the category inside a dropdown-flyout gallery.

  12. Now select any of the stamps within this gallery and click on the image open within the SnagIt Editor as shown in Figure 12.
